CROWDS gathered at The Litten Tree in Colwyn Bay on Thursday for the grand final of Battle of the Bands.

After weeks of consistently high standards and dozens of acts from across North Wales, just four bands remained in the competition.

First to take to the stage were Old Colwyn indie-rockers The Upstarts with a selection of upbeat original material. Maintaining their usual tight sound, it was a great start to the evening.

St Asaph based pop rock band Evolve were next up having impressed judges in the semi-finals. A very vocal crowd responded well to their particular blend of infectious synths, well rehearsed harmonies, and accomplished guitar work that highlighted the standard the competition had reached.

Five piece Trans Amp were their usual energetic selves with plenty of high energy antics. A solid set was made even better by the highlight cover track of the evening - a mash up of House Of Pain's Jump Around and Walk This Way.

And capping the evening off were prog-rock maestros Bite. A superb performance with some of the best guitar work seen on the night, they stormed their way through the set with vigour and skill, leaving a great lasting impression.

Evolve were crowned the winners and will be granted a gig at the prestigious Buttermarket in Shrewsbury where they will be supporting a top indie act.
