A CHART-TOPPING duo with the X Factor will appear at Venue Cymru in May.

Brothers Carl and Andy Pemberton, better known as Journey South, finished third on the 2005 series of the X Factor while under the wing of TV's Mr Nasty, Simon Cowell.

Carl said: "X Factor was a fantastic experience I wouldn't change it for the world. We tried making it via the traditional route but that is like finding a needle in a haystack. We tried the X Factor route and it worked for us.

"Simon Cowell was very supportive. After every show we would go into his dressing room with our guitars and play and work through songs
for next week's show. He was great with that and with advice."
The duo, who hail from Middlesbrough, will play in Llandudno on May 31 in support of their new album Home and will be backed by a five piece band.

Carl said:"It is going to be a real upbeat show, we will be playing stuff off our first and second albums and there will be a lot of surprises as well. It going to be quite rocky.

"Our current album is all original songs, some acoustic and some rock, it is a really good mix."

Following their X Factor success Journey South now play in front of thousands of fans, quite a change form the duo's humble beginnings.

Carl said: "We used to play weddings and pubs and it used to be the barman and his dog, but we ended up getting a good following. It was nothing like getting up in front of thousands of people who have bought the songs and are singing the lyrics back to us. It's a real buzz."

Tickets are available from the Venue Cymru box office on 01492 872000.
