THE DEADLIGHT Spiral are certainly a local rock band to watch out for.

A self professed 'pandemonium of psychadelic stoner rock' who describe themselves as being 'anti-everything'; their one clear interest is providing astonishingly diverse and powerful music.

With their eight-track Full Circle EP out now and a series of gigs kicking off this week, their recent radio play only serves to highlight just how good they are.

From the first track Permanent Vacation, the tone is set for what to expect from the trio: undiluted and well-arranged rock songs.

Instrumentally reserved verses and choruses not only display their skill as musicians, but accents the instrumental mid-stage that is sure to have any room head-banging.

The pace certainly isn't let up with Heart of Fire - an energy filled track with hearty solos and running guitar work that makes it one of the defining songs of the album.

Vainglory really hammers home how accomplished the three-piece in creating a full and professional sound.

Intelligent use of riff/chord switching by Daryl Roddick on guitar combined with his dirty, controlled voice flows over the running basslines by Rob Loughlin and Al Matthews' tight, diverse drum work.

The result is an infectious adrenaline rush of undeniable rock.

Comparisons to grunge rockers Soundgarden or early Queens Of The Stone Age may be justified.

But the band probably has more in tune with classic bands like AC/DC and Zepplin - demonstrative of the timeless quality they seem to effortlessly adopt.

Though satisfying to listen to on headphones, a live show is the only way to truly appreciate their music, so be sure not to miss The Deadlight Spiral when they play live at The Lounge bar in Llandudno on March 14 and at Penrhyn Old Hall Rock Night on March 15.
