A DYSERTH rocker who was flown back to the UK after suffering a serious allergic reaction whilst on tour in Germany is recovering in hospital.

Musician Mike Peters, frontman of The Alarm, was in Hamburg with his band when he began to feel unwell.

He was admitted to hospital and was advised by his doctor to cancel rest of his tour dates.

The father-of-two boys - Dylan and Evan - who is married to Jules, has since returned to North Wales and has been receiving treatment in Ysbyty Gwynedd.

The tour is being resumed and dates re-arranged.

Fans feared that Mike's health condition may have been linked to Mike’s leukaemia, but Jules took to Facebook with an update that her husband had experienced a serious allergic reaction to a new drug.

She said: "Slowly but surely, he is returning to full health.

"The band and crew set off on their European adventures last week, with the plan being that I would jump on a plane to join them in Berlin.

"I have been filming for my BBC documentary 'The Next Step' and we even face-timed Mikey at the sold our show in Hamburg on Friday night.

"Briefly, Mike mentioned he wasn't feeling 100 per cent. The show went on and all seemed fine, I didn't give it a second thought. By the next night, Mike and deteriorated considerably with symptoms like a heavy cold.

"As the night wore on, Mike was suffering from choking sensations and and extremely raw and sore throat, plus general feelings of inflammation. Mike being Mike insisted the show must go on. The last thing he wanted to do was disappoint the German fans and cancel.

"It soon became apparent that things weren't improving.

"I felt my spirits weaken, my stomach lurch but I knew, my gut instinct, said 'bring him home.'

"We put the plan into motion to bring him back to the safety of the NHS and North Wales."

Once admitted to hospital, Mike had to undergo a number of blood tests.

Jules, who has battled breast cancer, added: "I'm delighted to report that Mike's leukaemia condition. In fact, Mike’s bloods are better than ever.

"This whole situation has been caused by a serious allergic reaction to a new drug.

"Mike has come off the drug and slowly but surely, he is returning to full health."

A spokesperson for The Alarm added: "After blood tests, it has been established that Mike has suffered a severe drug-related allergic reaction which affected him so dramatically whilst on tour in Germany. This reaction is now abating and Mike will be back in action next month, fit and ready to resume all his responsibilities as singer and guitarist with The Alarm."

Mike Peters and The Alarm will resume their European Tour on June 13 and 14 in Holland and Belgium. Rescheduled - and additional - European dates are currently being added.

New dates for Germany are also being rearranged.
