Residents are expected to see a change at this year's Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza.

Event organiser and chairman of the Extravaganza, Chris Williams, said he was hoping to bring the weekend back to its origins and have a strong Victorian theme.

Those visiting the event over the weekend are encouraged to dress up in Victorian clothing and will have the opportunity to take part in activities and visit stalls themed from the same era.

A Victorian school and market will be set up in Llandudno, with a steam train also offering rides, as just part of the weekend's attractions.

Mr Williams said: "It is going to be really great this year, we're hoping people notice the change. We really want to try and encourage people to get dressed up, so we can focus on the Victorian theme as much as we can.

"We have tried really hard to make sure the right bits look traditional and Victorian. Hopefully the public really enjoy the weekend."

While there will be a strong focus on the Victorian side of things, there will also be other attractions for event-goers to enjoy.

A new attraction to the Extravaganza will be the giant wheel, which is going to the biggest ride in Llandudno coming in at 35 metres.

Mr Williams said it would give people the chance to take in some of the nice views around Llandudno including the Orme, the Pier and West Shore.

While the number of side show attractions on Mostyn Street will be reduced this year to allow shop fronts to be involved in the event, a fun fair will still be included in the Town Hall Car Park.

The parade, which is an important feature of the weekend will be held earlier this year, starting at midday each day from the front of the Trinity Church.

The event will run from Friday to Sunday this weekend through out the main streets of Llandudno.
