A music festival created in the hope of raising money for children's health services has been postponed until 2019.

The Little Dragon Music Festival had already lined up Scouting for Girls and Goldie Lookin Chain as headline acts for the event but a lack of funds and slow ticket sales resulted in organisers being forced to pull the plug on the event.

Event organiser David Jones said: "Because of the failure of expected funds to materialise and low-ticket sales, we have decided that the only option left is to postpone the Little Dragon Music Festival 2018 in aid of Children's Health Services in North Wales, until a later date in 2019.

"As we are a non-profit making outfit, dependent solely on charitable donations, sponsorship and grants we find ourselves in the very difficult situation of relying on everyone's good will, as we anticipate, we will have a heavy payback bill of £1000’s in the coming weeks.

"We totally appreciate that this decision affects the livelihoods of everyone associated with the festival, but, if in any way you guys could find it in your hearts to lessen the burden on us by trying to understand our predicament, it would be much and kindly appreciated.

"Please bear with us, as all vendors, sponsors, ticket sales and donors will be fully reimbursed."

"This decision hasn't been taken lightly, Dyfan (fellow organiser) and myself are devastated.

"I emphasise that the event has not been cancelled but postponed until 2019, so we will continue fundraising for next year’s event once we have cleared the books for 2018.

"I’m so sorry I'm the bearer of such bad news, no one is more upset and broken than Dyfan and myself."

The co-organisers are currently working on offers for people who have already purchased tickets to the event to redeem at other events in 2018.

Despite the cancellation of the Little Dragon's festival Prestatyn man Gary Worsley will still be carrying out fundraising for a similar cause.

Mr Worsley will be at Bar 236 in Prestatyn on 21 and 22 June for a 24 hour spin-a-thon. Gary is spinning for 24 hours from 6pm on 21 June, followed on the 22 June by an evening of music headlined by The Ruby Blues Band supported by three other bands.

The event is in aid of Glan Clwyd Hospital's children’s unit.

He will also be doing a non-stop ride from Edinburgh to London in 48-hours aiming to raise money for the same cause.
