METAL men, talking toys, avenging angels - 2010 is set to be another bumper year at the movies.
Plan your year right here with a quick round-up of the must-see films released over the next 12 months.
Up In The Air - January 15
Tipped for recognition at this year's Oscar ceremony, Jason Reitman - the director behind the accolade-attracting comedy Juno and Thank You For Smoking - returns with this tale of a company down-sizing expert whose personal goal to clock ten million air miles is thwarted when his company threatens to ground him.
George Clooney adds the star power with a strong supporting cast including Jason Bateman and The Departed's Vera Farmiga.
Invictus - February 5
Morgan Freeman steps into the shoes of Nelson Mandela in Clint Eastwood's anticipated biopic.
The plot follows the newly elected President in the wake of the apartheid as he joins forces with the captain of South Africa's rugby team (Matt Damon) to help unite their country.
Expect award gongs galore.
Shutter Island - February 19
Martin Scorcese and Leonardo DiCaprio unite yet again in this adaptation of Dennis Lehane's dramatic mystery set in 1954, where a US Marshall investigates the disappearance of a murderess who escaped from a hospital for the criminally insane and is presumed to be hiding on the remote Shutter Island.
Hopefully drenched in atmosphere, early footage suggests a stunning - and chilling - movie.
Legion - March 4
When a biblical apocalypse descends on an American diner, it is up to an angel called Legion to protect a pregnant waitress carrying the messiah.
Promising plenty of guns and lots of action-horror, it has the potential to be either a brainless-but-fun classic or a waste of celluloid.
But with Paul Bettany on board in the title role, hedge your bets its the former.
Alice In Wonderland - March 5
Tim Burton returns to childrens' books in this stylish reimagining of Lewis Carroll's world-famous tale. And it's in 3D!
Sinister set pieces and mind-boggling characters are brought to life by Burton regulars Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter, while our own Stephen Fry lends his vocal talents to the Cheshire Cat.
If you see one 3D film this year, make it this one.
Clash Of The Titans - March 26
Few films are improved by a remake, but while Ray Harryhausen's endearing stop-motion animation brought the Greek gods to life in the original 1981 film, today's technology and aesthetic style is sure to blow audience's minds.
Current hot property Sam Worthington dons the sword and shield as Perseus - a demi-god and son of Zeus - who is charged with stopping the minions of the Underworld taking over Earth.
Look out for a slew of Greek mythology-based films jumping on the bandwagon.
Iron Man 2 - May 7 (USA)
Robert Downey Jr is back as Tony Stark - a rich industrialist and the man behind the peace-keeping superhero Iron Man.
With his secret identity no longer a secret, and a Russian villain causing him problems he needs a little help from his friends.
Step in War Machine: a fanboy favourite teased at in the first film, this time played by Don Cheadle who is kitted out in a similar suit of destruction.
With teaser trailers hinting at some explosive action sequences, this is the superhero sequel to watch out for.
Robin Hood - May 14
Robin Hood (or as early footage suggests, 'Gladiator In The Woods') sees Ridley Scott back together with Russel Crowe for another shot at a sweeping historical saga.
Promising no tights or hokey American accents, Scott's return to the genre is welcomed.
But will it hit the target after his flawed last epic attempt in the lengthy and unfocused Kingdom Of Heaven?
It certainly looks promising and is sure to inspire a new wave of archery enthusiasts.
Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time - May 28
Computer game films rarely garner critical acclaim ('Max Payne-ful to watch' being one of them), but Jerry Bruckheimer hopes to buck the trend in this potential franchise-starting adventure.
Jake Gyllenhal embraces a British accent (surprisingly well) in the title role as Prince Datsan who teams up with a rival princess (Gemma Arterton) to stop an angry ruler from unleashing a sandstorm which could destroy the world.
Sir Ben Kingsley and Alfred Molina add some dramatic weight, and with Mike Newell in the director's chair don't be surprised if more chapters emerge.
Shrek Forever After - July 9
Everyone's favourite ogre returns in the Dreamworks adventure where the dead horse of fairytales is well and truly flogged.
Mike Myers and Cameron Diaz reprise their vocal talents with a tale which sees Shrek sent to a parallel universe by the sinister Rumpelstiltskin where ogres are hunted and Princess Fiona is not his wife.
Cue plenty of storybook inspired skits and back-talk from Eddie Murphy's Donkey.
The Twilight Saga: Eclipse - July 9
Vampires + werewolves x teenage lust = tween girls spending their pocket money on this box office breaking certainty.
Dreamy Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are back in the third chapter of Stephanie Meyers astonishingly successful series which sees Bella having to choose between her blood-drinking boyfriend or furry best friend, as well as staying human or becoming immortal.
And things get even more complicated when an evil vampire after revenge continues to hunt her down.
With director David Slade pulling the strings, let's hope it is tamer than his last vampire flick 30 Days Of Night.
Inception - July 16 (USA)
A crime may have happened... Something appears to be wrong with gravity... Water is floating and a fight in a hallway soon becomes tricky when the building spins... Everyone looks quite pensive...
That's all we know about Christopher 'Dark Knight' Nolan's highly secretive sci-fi/mystery/drama from its eyebrow raising trailer.
But with a stella cast including Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Ellen Page, Cillian Murphy, Michael Caine and many many more; expect a new modern classic.
Toy Story 3 - July 23
After more than 10 years in the toy chest, Pixar have wheeled out Woody, Buzz and all the gang for another round of generation-crossing fun.
With owner Andy all grown up and off to college, the toys find themselves dropped off at a daycare centre where hijinks ensue.
All the cast return with a few new names added to the list in what is tipped to be another nugget of Pixar gold.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I - November 19
Muggles rejoice: the first part of the boy wizard's final chapter is set for an autumn release.
Split into two films, with the latter scheduled for 2011, the ongoing battle against Voldemort continues as Harry, Ron and Hermione set out to find the hidden Horcruxes to defeat the Dark Lord.
David Yates is back in the director's chair to guide audiences through the last of JK Rowling's lucrative franchise, but with a majority of the epic events taking place in the latter half, prepare for yet another 'linking film' rather than a satisfying stand along offering.
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader - December 10
Disney may have dropped it, but 20th Century Fox have waded in to co-fund the continuing adventures of the Pevensie children in the mystical land of Narnia.
Lucy and Edmund are back with cousin Eustace along for the ride when they meet with Prince Caspian for a trip across the sea aboard the royal ship.
During their journey they encounter dragons, dwarves, merfolk, and a band of lost warriors before reaching the edge of the world. Could be the perfect walm-up to The Hobbit in 2011.
Tron Legacy - December 17 (USA)
Faithful fans of the original 1982 film Tron are sure to have fond memories of lightcycle chases and computer generated polygon tanks.
While admittedly rather dated by today's standards, a new wave of devotees are sure to be swept up in newbie director Joseph Kosinski's stunning sequel.
An extended teaser trailer confirms the lightcycles are back, but the rigid and basic computer world has been replaced by lush neon and brain-frying visuals.
And with Jeff Bridges returning as Kevin Flynn, this could be the surprise hit of the year.
