A VILLAGE campaign to save a popular railway crossing has hit the Internet.
The Deganwy footpath rail crossing on Glan Y Mor Road, near the junction with Pentywyn Road, has been earmarked for closure by Network Rail.
But despite the stile being a popular access point to the cyclepath, it is not a Public Right of Way.
Cllr Jason Weyman said: “Unfortunately the footpath and crossing has never been established as a Public Right of Way. Although we have evidence of the existence of the use of the site for access to the foreshore for more than 100 years, it does not help our case.”
In a bid to demonstrate the amount of demand for the stile crossing, a Facebook group has been formed inviting residents, businesses and visitors to the village to pledge their support.
Paper petitions are also available Deganwy News on Pentywyn Rd, the Harbour View fish and chip shop and Deganwy Post Office.
