MYSTERY and intrigue combine in the high-tension conclusion to the Millennium trilogy - The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest - being screened by the Rialto film club this month.

Directed by Daniel Alfredson, the Swedish shot trilogy has left audiences worldwide awestruck; catapulting Noomi Rapace into stardom and resulting in an American remake of the first instalment by David Fincher.

The final chapter sees computer hacker Lisbeth Salander (Rapace) recovering in hospital from a bullet in the head, isolated from everyone and separated from her laptop which is her lifeline to the outside world.

With the help of journalist Mikael Blomkvist, she must find a way to prove her innocence against the triple murder charge against her and plot her revenge against the people that put her there.

The secrets she knows make her a threat to the government who are determined to avoid embarrassment and silence her by any means necessary.

Celebrated for bringing the late Stieg Larsson's work to life, ...Hornet's Nest continues the gripping cinematic qualities firmly established in the first two films; book-ending an impressive film making achievement by the European team.

  • The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest (15) will be showing at The Ferguson Centre in Rydal Penrhos, Colwyn Bay on Sunday, April 10 at 7:30pm. For more information or to book tickets contact the Box Office on 01492 872000.
