Gwalchmai 0 - Conwy Utd 3

CONWY Utd were up against two formidable foes on the weekend: Gwalchmai on home ground and strong winds.

It was Gwalchmai who had their first, and possibly only real chance of the half, when Aeron Owen shot over in the tenth minute.

But Conwy soon began to stamp their authority on the game.

Darren Jones put his effort straight into the arms of Gwalchmai keeper Kenny Hughes, a Ben Hughes free kick struck the post and Dan Holdsworth brought a tremendous save from Hughes who was being kept busy.

At 24 minutes Conwy took the lead as a slip up in the home defence gave Holdsworth the opportunity to score.
Gwalchmai were still dangerous going forward and just before half time Conwy keeper Danny Stanton fumbled, incurring a hefty knock to the head.

For the second half Stanton was on his way to Ysbyty Gwynedd and substitute keeper Jamie Roberts took over in goal.
Roberts was beaten by a Paul Evans shot, but the post came to his aid.

After 81 minutes Toby Jones added Conwy’s second when brother Ricky fed the ball to him just inside the box and after some nifty footwork Toby turned and put his shot just inside the post.

Five minutes later and Toby struck again when a through ball from Darren Jones split the defence and with the home team appealing for offside he shot past the keeper to finish the scoring.
