PRIMARY pupils in Towyn will enjoy a right royal occasion when they hold a wedding fit for a Prince.

Youngsters at Ysgol y Foryd in Towyn will hold a mock wedding in honour of the royal couple, and they have even invited William Windsor and Kate Middleton to the party at St Mary’s on April 13.

Stephanie Cartmel, Headteacher, said: “More than 250 children and adults are involved. We’ve even got a four year old Posh and Becks and a Cheryl Cole, alongside the Queen of Tonga, and King and Queen of Spain - all the people who will be at the actual wedding.”

Pupils Emma Storey and Lewis Lloyd were picked to play Kate and William, as they have the best attendance records in the school, while young Siret will be Queen for the day.

A horse and carriage is booked along with a limousine and a vintage car, while Bishop Stephen Lowe will host the service, playing the part of the Archbishop of Canterbury.

Mrs Cartmel said: “The children feel increasingly excited. The countdown to the real wedding has begun. We will be going to have a wedding banquet provided by the school cook while local businesses have got on board with donations of cakes and flowers. It’s going to be a big deal.”

The various dignitaries invited include local politicians, school governors and the royal couple themselves.

Bishop Lowe said: “It's a great privilege to share in the children's sense of excitement about the Royal Wedding. The people of St Mary's are preparing for the big day, as are the children!”

There is a serious side to the celebration, as each class has helped plan the event, which has allowed them to learn more about geography, arts, crafts, IT and Religious Education.

Mrs Cartmel said: “The children have all written out invitations - there is even one for the real Kate and William! But Emma’s dress is being kept top secret, just as the real one will be top secret too."
