UP TO 70 new jobs for a £12 million Craig y Don based charity will be sourced locally.

Colwyn Bay recruitment agency Supertemps has beaten off competition from national firms to be awarded the contract for the new St Dunstan’s centre, which will provide help and support to visually impaired ex-service men and women.

The centre on Queen’s Road, which was previously the North Wales Medical Centre, will require care workers, rehabilitation and training staff, housekeepers, maintenance personnel and drivers when it officially opens later this year.

All staff vacancies are hoped to be filled by August.

Managing Director of Supertemps, Sarah Ellwood said: “We are thrilled to be working alongside St Dunstan’s and will ensure the best people are recruited to work for the wonderful centre they’ve created here in North Wales.

“We echo St Dunstan’s sentiment that it would be a bonus to recruit local people. Their desire to support the local community is already paying dividends, as the extra work for us means that we need to hire staff of our own
“The new St Dunstan’s centre is already creating a buzz of excitement and it’s very rewarding to play a central role in finding the right people for it.”
