A BOARDWALK for cyclists and an improved harbour are just some of the schemes wanted for Rhos on Sea.

Businesses, residents and councillors have put together a ‘to do’ list to boost tourism.
And a major priority is continuing the harbour breakwater to the shore and replacing the decaying jetty.

Paul Connelly from Kayak North Wales said: “We’re not going to get £200,000 boats in that jetty because they would get scratched.
A new jetty and developed harbour would bring people ashore and boost the shops, restaurants, the cafes.

Mr Connelly said: “Improving the jetty rather than just patching it up would be far more cost effective in the long term. And with a sheltered harbour all kinds of watersports could be done without worrying about the tides.”

The cycle path is also an area which locals feel needs addressing.

Resident Don Milne said t he cycle path was “an accident waiting to happen” and needed to be widened.

One solution proposed would see a boardwalk on the beach side of the wall, which would allow pavements and roads to be widened while keeping pedestrians and cyclists safe.

Mike Griffiths from the Conwy County Borough Access Group said: “At the moment the cyclepath from Colwyn Bay runs all the way up to Rhos on Sea, then stops, before picking back up on the other side of Rhos Point.
“Building a boardwalk everything could be shifted over - the road, the pavement, and the pedestrians and cyclists and pedestrians on the other side."

Cllr Roger Parry said: “This isn’t about gutting Rhos on Sea and starting from scratch, it is enhancing what is already here.”
