A TEENAGER has headed across the pond to compete for a prestigious beauty title.

Victoria Tooby, 16, a former pupil of Eirias High School, is currently competing at the international level for the title of Miss Teen Galaxy at a week-long contest in Chicago.

Victoria successfully competed in the Miss Teen Galaxy Wales contest at the Daresbury Park Hotel, Cheshire, in March, beating contestants from throughout the country. As well as the crown, Victoria won the awards for best in swimwear, best in evening wear and best in fashion wear.

Victoria will travel with fellow Welsh contestant Jamie Lee Williams, from Powys, who will compete for the title of Miss Galaxy International.

Holly Ikin, director of Miss Galaxy and Miss Teen Galaxy in the UK, said she was sure that Victoria would do well in the competition.

She said: "I think Victoria has a fantastic chance - she's beautiful, but she's striking as well, and she's got a lot of confidence."

The results of the Miss Galaxy competition will be announced on Saturday.
