AN animal charity is stuggling to find homes for abandoned cats.
Julie Parry, from the Colwyn and District Cats Protection League, is looking for homes for three kittens found running wild in Towyn.
Ms Parry said: “We have a great problem at the moment with semi-feral cats and kittens due to the ever increasing problem of people abandoning their cats especially if they have not been neutered.
“I am trying to highlight the problem but I am also in desperate need of an outside home for the three semi-feral kittens.”
Cats Protection League staff recovered the nine week old kittens after receiving a report they had been living in a hedge.
Ms Parry said: “Their only play area was a very busy lane. Unfortunately in the three days between being reported and caught, two of the litter had been run over. The remaining three were very nervous and frightened and because of the lack of social contact and being handled were quite feral.”
The animals are now 16 weeks old, neutered, vaccinated and vet checked and are named Sirius, Vega and Denab after the night stars they were born and lived under.
Ms Parry said: “Although they have come on a lot they will be better suited as outdoor cats preferably with someone who has experience of looking after semi-feral cats. They are a joy to watch, they love their freedom and romping around with each other, I am hoping they can go together as they will not leave each other’s side.”
She said that the League was looking for someone to give the kittens a happy and free life on a small holding, farm, stables or a safe outdoor shelter.
