A GREEN fingered gathering was the “best ever” according to organisers.
Prestatyn Flower Show, which took place on the last weekend of July, saw the largest crowds in the history of the event, which is in its 17th year.
Pauline Mylchreest one of the organisers, said: “With prize winning exhibits, classic cars, live jazz and brass band music, there was something for everyone.
“The good weather helped to boost our numbers to the best ever.”
Among those to take home a haul of prices was young Aled Davies, who was successful in the Junior entries classes, Megan and Amy Davies, who scooped a number of prizes and Yvette Byrne Jones, a married mother who won two first prizes in the baking competition for her Victoria sandwich cake and her cottage loaf.
Mrs Jones said: “It feels great (to have won). I just started up a little business from home baking cakes, so it’s good to know I can do it.
“The atmosphere on the day was fantastic, really good fun with a community feeling. I sincerely hope I will be going again next year. It’s just nice to be part of something local.”
Alongside her certificates, Mrs Jones netted £4 in prize money, which she invested in some flowers to compete in the horticultural section next year.
