LLANDUDNO TOWN went down 1-0 to last season’s Huws Gray Alliance champions GAP Connah’s Quay on Friday night.
Player manager Mark McGregor scored the winner in a tight affair, whilst Tudno also had Lee Thomas sent off for two yellow cards.
Conwy United also lost out in their weekend fixture, going down 4-2 to current table toppers Cefn Druids.
After Cefn opened the scoring, Mike Lundstram saw his penalty saved by opposing keeper Chris Mullock.
The Druids went on to rattle in another three to go 4-0 up, and though Lundstram made amends with his seventh and eighth goals of the season, host Cefn saw off The Musselmen’s late challenge.
Glan Conwy were winners at the weekend though with an impressive 4-2 result away to Llanrug United.
Gavin Roberts handed Glan Conwy the lead ten minutes in, and Chris King doubled the advantage on the half hour mark.
Mereck Knight netted both sides of the break to give his side a 4-0 lead, and though United struck twice in the final ten minutes, Glan Conwy proved too strong.
Goals from Danny Mercer and Joel Hewitt gave Llandudno Jucntion a 2-1 win over Bodedern Athletic, making up for a 1-0 loss to Bethesda Athletic on Monday, whilst Penmaenmawr Phoenix drew their weekend fixture away at Amlwch Town.
The new-look Dyffryn Clwyd and Conwy league also kicked off this weekend, with Mochdre Sports winning an opening day derby with Rhos United 3-0.
Mochdre scored twice within two first half minutes to take a 2-0 lead into the break, going ahead through an own goal and a Josh Pierce strike.
Adam Henley added the third fifteen minutes from time to round off a great start for Sports.
The first round of the Welsh Trophy has also been drawn, with Llandudno Junction welcoming Saltney Town, whilst Penmaenmawr Phoenix host Caernarfon Wanderers.
