BANGOR is preparing to welcome a world class night club which is set for a spectacular opening this weekend.
The Embassy nightclub, on Deiniol Road, will open its doors for the first time tonight (Friday, September 16) with a special DJ set from former Big Brother winner Kate Lawler.
The club, which occupies the city’s former post office building, is also at the centre of Bangor University’s fresher’s week, starting on Sunday with a special moving in party as the new intake of students arrive.
Embassy’s head of promotions and resident DJ, Ed Mackie, has high hopes for the club.
“I think it is going to be a Mecca for all kinds of genres of music,” he said.
“We hope that people will travel far and wide to come, as well as the residents of Bangor.
“It’s great for students, I think they will really take to it this year.”
After the opening night tomorrow, other events will include the moving in party on Sunday, which will see the club open from 2pm onwards as new students arrive, a UV party on Monday, an “Indie vs Rock night on Tuesday, a silent disco with headphones on Wednesday and a special DJ set from Radio One Extra DJ Fabio, on Friday, September 23.
Embassy will feature a main club, that will open seven nights a week from around 9pm onwards, as well as a more relaxed lounge bar, which will be open seven nights a week from 7pm.
The main club features state of the art music and sound systems and the bar, which is managed by cocktail expert Fiach O’Rourke, will feature a wide range of drinks.
Much of the development inside the building has been overseen by Bangor constructors, Jewson.
Richard Moore, of Jewson, Bangor, said: “Jewson are proud to be associated with Embassy nightclub and we wish them all the success for the future.”
