If you’ve just finished your studies, chances are that things may seem a little daunting at the moment, especially given the current economic situation – all the securities that we took for granted at university are fading fast, and the job ladder seems impossibly far away.

If you’re beginning to think you may never be able to climb it, you could probably benefit from some sound career advice. Often we forget some of the more simple and obvious pieces of advice that can help put everything into the proper perspective. You might realise that nothing is as bad as it seems, and that finding jobs in the UK is not as hard as you once thought.

Searching for listings online will yield hundreds of jobs you never thought were there, and applying to them is easier than ever. You can filter your results using all kinds of criteria so, for example, you can search by salary, job type, part time, full time or internship.

You can also search by company if you have specific businesses in mind that you’ve always wanted to work for, and once you’ve found what you want you can apply directly via the job site.

One of the more overlooked features of online job hunting is the geographical side to the search. You can narrow jobs down to counties and even specific cities – for example, you can search directly for jobs in Glasgow if you want to combine your new career with a refreshing change of scene.
