A MOTHER and daughter were held at knifepoint by masked men during a terrifying raid on their home.

The five men, wearing balaclavas, tied them up and threatened them with knives before making off with cash and jewellery during the robbery at Maes Gwyn in Flint.
One neighbour, who did not want to be named, said the pair were too frightened to return to their home.

She said: “They are both having flashbacks and were really shaken up by the incident. They were tied up by the men who threatened them.

“Since it happened they have not been back to the house.”

The mother, who asked to remain anonymous, was too shaken by the ordeal, which took place on Sunday, to speak yesterday, but appealed for anyone who may have seen the incident to contact North Wales Police.

She said: “I heard a car outside and I want anyone who was in the street at the time to contact police and tell them if they saw anything.”

The women were unharmed in the incident, but left shaken.

North Wales Police know the offenders were dressed in dark clothing with balaclavas covering their faces.

DI Jason Devonport said: “We are appealing for witnesses in or around the Maes Gwyn area of Flint who may have seen a group of males shortly before 9pm or afterwards running along that road or the A548 Chester Road.

“It is unclear at this stage whether the offenders had a vehicle, so any information regarding a group of males in a vehicle around Flint can be passed to the police on 101 or anonymously on Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.”
