NEIL Mitchell struck a late winner as Caersws overcame torrential rain and a barrage of long throws to win at Druids.

With time running out Graham Evans and Mark Griffiths linked to release Mitchell who made no mistake from 12 yards.

The Friday night clash was blighted by torrential rain and wind which neither side or the 114 supporters relished.

It was Caersws who led with Alliance top goalscorer Griffiths breaching a stationary home defence to round goalkeeper Chris Mullock and roll in a 13th minute opener.

Druids were level within five minutes as a slip from Caersws goalkeeper proved costly as Matthew Hurdman capitalised.

Much of the game saw Druids deploy a long throw into the Caersws defence which were comfortably dealt with by Graham Jones and Gareth Sudlow.

Scott Quigley and Rob Evans went close for Caersws before the Bluebirds snatched a last gasp victory.

Once again it was Griffiths involved with the 12 goal strikerinking with Graham Evans for Mitchell to fire Caersws to seventh in the table.

“It was a horrible evening for football but I was pleased with the way we kept going and in the end I felt we deserved the points.”
