SHOPPERS will receive an early Christmas present with free parking.
Denbighshire Council has entered the festivities with free parking after 3pm in Rhyl and Prestatyn from November 21 to New Year in hopes of encouraging people into the town centres.
Councillor Sharon Frobisher, Cabinet Lead Member for Environment, said: “The council feels it is vitally important to encourage people to use our town centres, especially in this current economic climate.
“Regenerating communities is one of the council’s key priorities and we feel that offering this arrangement over Christmas will encourage residents to think local as an alternative and see what they have to offer.”
County Councillors representing Prestatyn recently announced a subsidy for the Lower Central car park during major development works associated with the Bus Station revamp and the Stadium Development.
The new parking charges are 10 pence for 30 minutes, 50 pence for four hours and £3.50 for longer periods.
