JOURNAL readers showed they had vision when it comes to helping people overseas through an eye charity.

Rhyl-based optician Colin Jones has revealed that following his appeal launch in June readers have contributed more than 100 pairs of spectacles to his Vision Aid Overseas appeal.

In May he travelled with five other volunteer optometrists to Zambia, treating eye diseases and correcting the vision of hundreds of local people, in temporary VAO clinics.

This month he’s off to Africa again, travelling to Ethiopia and he will be taking his consignment of glasses from Rhyl with him - to be re-cycled and distributed by VAO.

He will continue to collect unwanted glasses for the charity at Jones Eyecare, 43, Wellington Road, Rhyl.
