Top five things to do in Swansea
The southern Welsh city of Swansea is one of the most thriving areas in the UK. The city by the sea, as it is affectionately known, is attracting more and more tourists every year and has many attractions to justify that popularity. We take a look at a few of them here for you to try:
The Chocolate Factory
Anywhere that has a chocolate factory is well worth a visit. The one in Swansea conducts fully guided tours for the enjoyment of the whole family and not just the kids! The samples are in copious supply here but they’re so good that you’ll struggle to say no. It is an absolute steal, too, at only £8 for adults and £6 for children for the full tour.
Singleton Park
Despite being a thriving city, Swansea is a great place for relaxation with parks like Singleton Park to go and enjoy some you-time. This particular park is located right next to the university but is big enough to have your own space and relax.
Dylan Thomas Theatre
This delightful waterside theatre, named after the Welsh poet from Swansea, is a venue that should be on every theatre lover’s list whenever they visit Wales. As well as staging some of the most creative productions in the region, the theatre tells the story of the famous poet after which it is named on a series of panels in the theatre itself.
Swansea Cinema
VUE is the cinema of choice in Swansea, with all the new film releases screened on a regular basis. Trips to the cinema and perhaps even for a meal before or after the movie is a timeless way to spend an evening, so if you fancy a bit of modern entertainment, head down to York Street, not far from the Dylan Thomas Theatre.
Swansea City FC
Now that Swansea City is a Premier League club, you will have a great time if you get a chance to visit the Liberty Stadium on a match day. If Swansea are due to play at home on the weekend you are due to visit the city, have a look around for some tickets but get in early because the excitement of top level football is still sweeping the city.
