TOY locomotives which were the victim of a great train robbery are on track for a Colwyn Bay auction.

The collectors’ items, which include the 4ft foot long Aster Big Boy valued at £10,000, were stolen from a home on Llanrwst Road in Upper Colwyn Bay in 1989.

The collection of trains were eventually recovered and returned to their owner and now they are going on sale at Roger Jones Auctioneers in Colwyn Bay.

A spokesman for the auction house said: "The trains were eventually recovered and the owner has decided to sell them. They really are impressive to look at."

Included in the 26 strong lot is the Aster Big Boy, which is estimated to reach between £2,500 and £3,500.

The sale will be held on Tuesday, November 29 with viewings on November 27 and 28.
