INJURY-HIT Rhyl picked up a handy point away to Guilsfield at the weekend to stay top of the Huws Gray Alliance.

Guilsfield, who have already beaten GAP Connah’s Quay and Buckley Town at home this season, took the lead midway through the second half, but Jason Oswell’s 65th minute penalty shared the spoils in an even contest.

Manager Greg Strong said he was pleased with a solid point away from home, and is looking for a positive result in his side’s final game of 2011 this weekend away to Flint, despite missing a number of first team regulars through injury.

“I think come the end of the season we’ll look back on it being an important point for us.”

“It’s been a terrific week for us, with the win over Newtown, the great cup draw and the result over Connah’s Quay, an the important thing is that we’ve still two points clear at the top.

“The Christmas break can’t come quickly enough. We’ve a few lads with knocks, and hopefully by January 2 (when Rhyl face Buckley at the Belle Vue) we’ll be back at full strength.”
