ONE of the flagship hotels run by Stephanie Booth before the businesswoman went into administration has reopened.

Gwesty Bodidris, previously Bodidris Hall, the 15th century former stately home based in Llandegla, has been bought by a Welsh businesswoman.

Clinical psychologist Dr Dilys Davies says she is determined to bring the rich Welsh history connected with the hotel to the foreground.

She said: “I see it is a great honour to own a building that is so rich in the history of our country and has a strong connection with our Welsh princes and men such as Owain Glyndwr.

“Our hope is to start organising events for local residents and provide a Welsh experience for those who wish to stay at the hotel."

Dr Davies has written extensively on the relationship between psychology and language, and has spoken at conferences all over the world.

This is the first hotel she has run.

In July the Free Press reported that following the crash of Mrs Booth’s business empire David Costley-Wood and Brian Green from KPMG were appointed joint administrators of Llangollen Hotels Ltd and its parent company Global Investments Group.

Llangollen Hotels comprised a chain of seven hotels in North Wales and Cheshire.

It included four freehold hotels, Bodidris Hall together with The Wild Pheasant Hotel, The Chainbridge Hotel and The Bryn Howel Hotel in Llangollen.

Dr Davies, who was brought up in Cardiff, added: “The committed team at Gwesty Bodidris is looking forward very much to welcoming guests to the hotel.

“We are open every day of the week and offer meals, accommodation, provision for conferences and meetings as well as providing an ideal location for weddings and other celebrations.”

The hotel was sold in November by selling agents Colliers International for an undisclosed sum.
