JON NEWBY is positive his Colwyn Bay side can arrest a run of five straight losses after suffering a sickening last minute defeat on Boxing Day against Vauxhall Motors.
A 93rd minute goal from Kevin Holsgrove snatched all three points from a clash the Bay looked the better side in, but Newby refused to be downhearted as he looks for a change in the Seagulls’ fortunes in Vauxhall’s return fixture at the Red Lion Foods Stadium this Sunday.
“We did OK in the game, and obviously it’s disappointing to concede three minutes into injury time as we did,” he said.
“We should have been more professional and shut up shop for a point, so it’s a bit of a kick in the teeth.”
“People have been on worse runs than this and we’re not doing a lot wrong, we just neet our luck to change.
“I’ve been on runs like this myself as a player, and often it’s just one goal that changes everything.
“We’ll just keep doing what we’re doing, and we’ll be looking to put that right on Sunday.”
A number of chances went begging in the first half as the Bay bossed proceedings, with some desperate defending keeping Vauxhall in the game after a series of goalmouth scrambles.
The Seagulls carved out more opportunities in the second half, but deep into injury time Motors forward Holsgrove held off Danny Meadowcroft and fired at Bay keeper Jack Cudworth, who saved his initial effort but failed to prevent his follow-up from trickling over the line.
