LLANDUDNO suffered their worst defeat of the season in a 4-0 reverse against top of the league GAP Connah’s Quay.
After last week’s defeat to Porthmadog, Tudno looked to bounce back with Wyn Williams returning to the starting line-up and Chris Melia making his debut in the attack, but Quay took just nine minutes to make the breakthrough, with Michael Robinson heading past Andy Rooney.
Hitman Gary O’Toole placed in a great second goal on 23 minutes as Llandudno struggled to make an impression on the hosts, and their task was made even tougher when Tom Dix was dismissed for a sliding tackle on Craig Jones.
After the break, Lee Thomas came inches away from converting Kevin Fields’ free kick, but Connah’s Quay added a third on the hour mark through Jamie Petrie.
Sub Rhys Healey added a fourth late on, despite an off-side flag from the assistant, as Quay completed a resounding victory.
Conwy United’s new boss Mick McGraa tasted defeat for the first time in Tangerine with a 1-0 scoreline against Cefn Druids.
A 75th minute goal from Robbie James proved the difference between the two sides, but McGraa said he was pleased with the way his side played against a well drilled visiting defence.
He said: “The wind made it a scrappy affair but we played with a high tempo in the first half against the wind and created some good chances.”
“Our reaction to conceding the goal was very good and we had the opportunities to equalise.
“Overall though, I’m pleased with the new signings and the attitude of the players and the way we played, the future of the team looks bright.”
Conwy have while recruited two new players from Welsh champions Bangor City, with winger Eddie Jebb and striker John Owen both joining The Musselmen on loan.
