ORGANISERS of this year’s Snowdonia Marathon are welcoming entrants for what promises to be their biggest race yet.
After the successful 2011 event three months ago, organisers are keen to sign up entries for this year’s race, which celebrates the 30th anniversary of the Snowdon Marathon and takes place on October 27.
Race co-ordinator Jayne Lloyd said that almost half of the 2000 available spaces for the race had already been snapped up after registration went live on New Year’s Day.
“Runners were literally sat in front of their computers at midnight on New Years Eve waiting to enter and by the 3rd of January we have received nearly 800 entries,” she said.
“We are seen as one of the premier marathons in the UK now, and demand for places is getting higher every year. Last year we were full by April, this year will certainly top that.”
“We are already planning some very exciting events regarding the 30th edition of the race. For a start there have been some world-class runners at the event over the years and we hope to bring a host of former winners back to Llanberis in 2012.”
Entries for the 2012 race are open and can be accessed by going to www.snowdoniamarathon.com and clicking on ENTER THE RACE.
