RESIDENTS are urged to attend a series of hearings to decide the future of their home.

The Bodelwyddan Direct Action Group are calling on villagers to rally at a series of discussions of Local Development Plan proposals to bring more than 1,700 new houses to the area.

Alice Jones, who is campaigning against the move, said: “This plan will change peoples lives beyond recognition and the Denbighshire geography and demography of the Vale of Clwyd."

More than 800 people have signed a petition calling for a re-evaluation the LDP proposals, amid fears that an influx of thousands of people could swamp the village and put strain on it’s infrastructure.

Mrs Jones said: “The members of Bodelwyddan Development Action Group will be speaking on behalf of the residents of Bodelwyddan at all sessions relating to Bodelwyddan as a Key Strategic Site.

“Even if you have not been invited to participate, please attend the hearings if you can. It’s very important to demonstrate the continued strength of feeling in the community and to reinforce our opposition to the LDP.”

Members of the Action Group have already carried their campaign to the highest level, and are set to put their case forward to the European Commission.

This is because the Action Group is concerned about the numbers of incomers having an impact on the use of the Welsh languange

Mrs Jones said: “We want to say thank you to all who live within the Parish of Bodelwyddan for the tremendous support, loyalty and commitment to the campaign to save your village and protect the green fields from being turned into grey concrete.

“Together we have achieved an extraordinary level of success and have done all we can.”

The first meeting took place on Tuesday, but sessions run today (Wednesday), Thursday and Friday at Rhyl Town Hall from 10am, and run on various dates until February.
