RHYL lost ground at the top of the Huws Gray Alliance league at the weekend after their away trip to Penycae fell victim to a frozen pitch.

The cancellation allowed Connah’s Quay to open up a four point gap after beating strugglers Llangefni 3-0, but Rhyl boss Greg Strong said that he is not worried about the gap with his side holding two games in hand on their title rivals.

“I’ve always said it’s a bit silly to look at the league table this early, but we have two games in hand and we’ll be top of the league if we win them both - that’s all I need to know.”

Strong also said his side were looking to set the record straight in this Friday’s derby clash with Llandudno.

“The lads are definitely up for it, I think we felt we had a disappointing night at their place and one or two of the lads felt they had their noses rubbed in it a little bit,” he said.

“We like to win with a bit of dignity and lose in the same way, and I know we’re well up for it.”

Rhyl have also added prolific striker Dave Forbes to their line-up.
