A PENMAENMAWR man descibed as a “caring and selfless man” died after falling from his bike.

Andrew Croxton, from Penmaenmawr, died last Thursday after falling onto a rugged shoreline in Kinmel Bay 12 days earlier whilst riding on the coastal cycle path near the Golden Sands holiday camp.

Mr Croxton, 52, who worked as a senior manager at Fugro Data Solutions in Conwy, was taken to Glan Clwyd Hospital and transferred to The Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery in Liverpool where he later died.

He had been travelling to meet his wife Carol in Chester. She said that he loved cycling on what was one of his favourite routes.

“We were going to a Christmas party in Scotland, even though it’s January, and I wanted to do some shopping for a dress in Chester,” Mrs Croxton said.

“He’s impatient when shopping, so he was going to cycle to meet me and we would travel back together.

“He loved being outdoors, and he loved cycling to Betws-y-Coed and over towards Bangor, and it’s part of the reason we ended up in this part of the world with the sea and the mountains.

“He was one of life’s fixers and organisers, if anyone had a problem he would sort it out. You always felt safe with Andrew.

“He loved the outdoors, cycling, hiking and walking. He was always trying to go one better, go faster or go up a bigger mountain.”

Luke Durcan, General Manager at Fugro Data Solutions, paid tribute to “a caring and selfless person.”

“He was well respected within the business and also externally with all our clients and customers. The volume and sincerity of the response since the accident have been a testament to him and his professionalism throughout his time in Data Solutions.

“Those who worked closely with him knew him as a caring and selfless person.

“The company is in progress of arranging a charity event in remembrance of Andrew and in support of the Walton Centre who cared for Andrew after his accident. He will be greatly missed by everyone here.”

A funeral service for Mr Croxton takes place on Friday, February 3 at Colwyn Bay crematorium at 2.30pm.
