TRIBUTES have been paid to a 21-year-old mum killed in a horrific car crash.

Carys Wright, from Johnstown, died at the scene of the crash on the B5105 Vicarage Road, Brymbo on Monday evening.

The male driver of the blue Peugeot 106 car Carys was a passenger in was taken to Wrexham Maelor Hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Tragically it comes after the death of Carys’ twin sister, Amy Wright, in September 2010.

Carys had been a tireless fundraiser following her sister’s death, raising money for three charities in her memory.

Grieving friends, who said Carys leaves behind a baby, have been paying tribute to her.

Carys, who lived on Clawdd Offa, Johnstown, and her identical twin Amy, were both former students at Ysgol y Grango, Rhos and Yale College, Wrexham.

Kate Williams, assistant headteacher at Ysgol y Grango, said Carys was “vivacious, full of life and had a lovely sense of humour”.

The assistant head knew both sisters and said: “They were both real characters, the two of them.

“They were very close. They were both very into Army cadets.

“Amy was very similar in character to her sister.”

Speaking about Carys she said: “She involved herself in every aspect of school life, particularly the choir, and was involved in the local Army cadets.

“She had a wide circle of friends and was a happy young lady. The staff, pupils and governors of Ysgol y Grango would like to convey their deepest condolences to Carys’ family at this sad time.”

A spokesman for Yale College, where Carys studied until 2008, said: “Carys was a bright and bubbly young lady who was well liked by her fellow students on the BTEC First Diploma in uniformed public services course.

“Carys had a huge character and presence and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

“All our thoughts are with Carys’ family and friends at this difficult time.”

The sisters had both worked at Liquid nightclub in Brook Street, Wrexham. Carys also worked at Tenpin in Eagles Meadow.

David McCarroll, general manager of the Liquid nightclub, said: “Everyone at Liquid is utterly devastated at the news.

“Carys was an incredibly popular member of the team. It’s a tragic loss of such a young, promising life.

“The thoughts of the team at Liquid are with Carys’s family at this time.”

A neighbour of Carys, who asked not to be named, said: “She was a lovely girl. She was always friendly and really down to earth.”

Police are appealing for witnesses following Monday crash which occurred at about 7.20pm and  involved a Laguna car, the driver of which was not injured.

Anyone with information is asked to call PC 450 Aled Jackson on 101.

A spokesman for North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters were called to reports of a collision involving two vehicles, one of which had overturned with a person trapped.

Acting coroner for North East Wales, John Gittins, said he had opened an inquest.

A post-mortem has been conducted by Dr Brian Rodgers with the provisional cause of death given as multiple injuries. The inquest has been adjourned to a date to be fixed.

Community and county councillor Paul Pemberton said: “The community of Rhos would like to pass on our thoughts to the family at this very sad time.”

This is so amazingly sad, the loss of a beautiful young woman, baby left without a mum and her parents must be in a terrible state after losing their other daughter (her twin) a couple of years back when she fell off the bridge. I hope they take some consolation that the twins are back together now at least.

To lose a child is the worst thing a person can experience, to lose two in tragic circumstances is beyond imagination.
