RED HOT Llandudno closed the gap at the top of the North West League Division 5 South with a 2-0 win over Crewe Vagrants.
In their best performance of the season Llandudno moved two points off their beaten opponents in second place, with an inspired performance from the visiting keeper preventing Tudno running up a cricket score.
It took until the last minute of the half for the deadlock to be broken, with a Crewe short corner cleared to Mikey Pennington, who exchanged passes with Tom Simpson and set up Steve Sharp to slam the ball into the corner.
The home side continued their high work rate into the second half and sealed the win when Stefan Cooling launched a drag flick into the top corner.
Lewis Sanford struck the post from the penalty spot late on but Llandudno were never in danger, as veteran goalkeeper Andrew Davies recorded his first clean sheet of the year.
Llandudno travel to leaders Sale on Saturday looking to keep their nine game unbeaten run going.
Colwyn Bay Firsts stretched their unbeaten run to five games after battering Macclesfield 4-1.
The Seconds lost a 6-4 contest with Wrexham Glyndwr, and the thirds were on the wrong end of a 1-0 scoreline in their fixture with South Cheshire.
