Porth win is key result as Conwy rally continues
CONWY United kept up their recent revival after digging in for a 4-2 result over Porthmadog.

Missing their first choice centre-half partnership of Mark Orme and Chris Quinn, The Musslemen went behind to Clive Williams’ 21st minute strike, but showed their battling qualities to draw back on level terms through Ian Pattinson, who netted the equaliser after Eddie Jebb’s free-kick was saved.

Joe Williams made a vital intervention to clear off the line for Conwy, and on 39 minutes Dean Canning put United ahead with his latest goal in tangerine after winning a challenge with Porthmadog keeper Richard Harvey.

An unfortunate own goal from keeper Callum Hawthorne levelled matters before the break, but Conwy came out all guns blazing for the second half, with Jebb restoring the lead with a 60th minute penalty after Canning was chopped down in the box.

Pattinson almost added a second after some superb approach play from Canning and Jebb only to be denied on the line, but on-loan striker John Owen made no mistake to wrap up the points in stoppage time.

After landing his third win in four games, Conwy manager Mick McGraa paid tribute to his resiliant side.

“I’m very proud of my lads today, they shown a great attitude from the first whistle, and in the second half we proved we can play some excellent football under tough conditions. I’m delighted with every one of them today.”
