A RESOUNDING victory got Nant Conwy back to winning ways at the weekend as they trounced Bala 41-6.

Sion Jones notched the first of seven tries after nine minutes, and after Bala struck back with their only points of the game, flanker Eryl Jones restored Nant’s supremacy with a second score on the half hour mark.

Owain Jones broke free for a third five minutes before the break, with Carwyn ap Myrddin converting, and James Jones scored a bonus-point securing fourth shortly after the break.

Winger Andre Channer-Hughes sped past the home back-line to touch down in the corner as Nant turned the screw, and a brace of Carwyn ap Myrddin tries, both of which he also converted, completed the rout.

The win sets Nant up perfectly for another crunch clash with Caernarfon, with the two heavyweights set to battle it out in the Swalec Plate this Saturday at 2.30pm.

LLANDUDNO’S slim hopes of avoiding relegation faded on Saturday as a much-changed line-up was outplayed by Pwllheli.

With nine alterations to last week’s starting squad, Dave Davies opened the scoring for Llandudno with a penalty, but it was one-way traffic that followed as the visitors ran in ten tries for a comprehensive win.

Colwyn Bay were out of action this weekend, as their fixture at Machynlleth was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

The Second XV were in action though, as an under-strength line-up suffered a 63-0 defeat to Mold. The Ceebees will be looking to return to full strength next week with another match against Mold, this time in the Clwyd Cup.
