HITMAN Mereck Knight netted a 73rd minute winner to help Glan Conwy dump holders Caernarfon Town out of the Barritt Cup.
Glan’s defensive midfielder Gareth Davies was an unlikely hero with two strikes to put Glan in front twice, and though Town restored parity with a couple of James Whitmore goals, Knight’s latest goal secured a great cup victory.
Llandudno Junction were also thankful for their star striker at the weekend, as Mark Montgomery’s 85th minute finish saw off Bethesda Athletic.
A first half brace from Joel Hewitt and Richard Jones’ 17th minute goal put The Railwaymen in control, and Montgomery’s fourth proved vital as Pesda netted two late goals in a nervy finish at The Flyover.
Rhos United ended their poor run of form with a 4-1 win over Abergele Dragons in the Second Round of the Presidents Cup.
Lee Thomas fired United in front on 21 minutes, before Jay Lynch strikes either side of half time and a Jake Park finish secured a comfortable win.
Mochdre Sports finished up on the wrong end of a 3-2 scoreline with Rhyl Athletic, with Shaun Heap and Adam Henley on target.
In Division Two, Betws Yn Rhos moved a point off the top of the league with a dominant performance against third placed Cerrigydrudion.
Jeff Cody opened the scoring after 25 minutes, Jody Bates guided in the second on 65 and Paul Cornwall finished the game off with a great solo run with 10 minutes remaining.
Cerrig got a consolation in the final minute, and will be looking for revenge next week when the two sides renew acquaintances in the REM Jones Cup Semi-Final first leg.
Old Colwyn were also in action, losing out 2-1 to Bro Cernyw despite Danny Warburton opening the scoring on 20 minutes.
