ST ASAPH 1
LLANRUG UNITED 1
(Llanrug won 3-2 on penalties)

SPOT kick anguish marked St Asaph’s Saturday action as they went close to springing a Barritt Cup shock.

The Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Premier Division side entertained Welsh Alliance League Division One Llanrug United in the third round and although two divisions separated the teams, penalties were required to decide the outcome.

Llanrug took a one-goal lead into the interval courtesy of Gareth Edwards’ 15th minute score, but the tie was back in the balance 10 minutes into the second period as Jason Foulkes popped up with St Asaph’s equaliser.

There were no further goals for the remainder of the 90 minutes, or during extra time, and Llanrug just managed to edge the ensuing penalty shootout 3-2.
