LLEWOD Llannefydd U-10s gave a brilliant performance on super Sunday.
The villagers knocked holders and favourites Hearts Milan out of the Rhyl Junior League Cup with a 4-1 victory after extra time.
Hearts opened the scoring midway through the first half. Nico Clwyd equalised for Llewod early in the second half with a fine finish from a tight angle.
Llewod then broke the 'Hearts' of the Rhyl-based team in extra time.
Mathew Jones made space for himself in the box before calmly shooting into the bottom corner.
Jones scored again soon after with a shot from just outside the box.
Then man of the match Nico Clwyd scored again with the last kick of the game to the delight of the home crowd.
The game was played in great spirit from both teams and Steffan Williams was a rock in defence for Llan.
Llewod Llannefydd U-11s competed well against local rivals Denbigh Town, but they lost out 4-2 against a well-organised team.
A closely contested first half resulted in a 1-1 scoreline at the interval.
Morus Owen scored with a good shot from distance for the home side.
Denbigh pressed in the second half and went 4-1 up.
Home man of the match Nedw Clwyd grabbed a late consolation goal for Llewod and the whole team battled well.
Tudur Jones and Hari Roberts played well in defence, as did Thomas Smith in goal.
