SEVEN jobs have been secured with news that a Rhyl clothing store is to remain open.
It is business as usual for workers at Bonmarche after they were told they had safely been spared under a store rationing exercise by its new owners.
The future of fashion chain Bonmarche was thrown into doubt when its parent company, the Peacocks Group, was placed in administration in mid January.
But an eleventh hour deal was done to save the brand which sells value fashions to the over 50s.
Private equity group Sun European Partners purchased the entire Bonmarche chain, apart from three stores, and while it would continue to run 230 stores and would close about 160 as part of a series of reforms.
Staff can now reveal the Rhyl store is among several to avoid the axe and continue trading under the Bonmarche name.
The Rhyl store located on the town’s High Street will continue to employ seven members of staff all of whom will remain employed.
Sun European Partners has significant retail experience with a large portfolio of companies including the Irisa Group, Jacques Vert, American Golf, SCS Sofas, Lee Cooper, Switch and Soda.
Fran Green, manager of the Rhyl store, said staff were thrilled with the news that they were remaining open.
“We would like to extend a special thanks to all of our customers for their support and messages of encouragement over the last few weeks,” added Fran.
“To be keeping our jobs is very much a relief,” said assistant manager Toni Suckley.
“We’ve just been told to carry on as normal.
“We’ve just had some new stock delivered which is great for the future.”
