ONE of Prestatyn’s landmark buildings is shedding some light on a charity campaign.
The Scala Cinema was bathed in red floodlights on Wednesday night to mark the start of British Heart Foundation (BHF) Cymru’s National Heart Month.
The building will be lit throughout the whole of February and BHF Cymru is encouraging people from across the region to raise funds or take part in the charity’s National Wear Red Day on Friday, February 24.
Sion Edwards of BHF Cymru’s said: “Cardiovascular disease can affect anyone, young and old, perhaps a baby born with a hole in the heart or a friend or colleague who suffers a heart attack.
“That’s why BHF Cymru wants to see people in the Prestatyn area joining in National Wear Red Day, and organising their own red fundraising events.
“It’s wonderful to see one of Prestatyn’s best loved buildings lit up red to highlight our campaign and we really appreciate the support of the Scala management for this initiative."
Prestatyn Mayor, Cllr Alan Pennington, said: “I’m delighted to be part of this initiative to highlight healthy lifestyles and raise funds for BHF Cymru and I’m also keen for as many people as possible in the area to get involved which will certainly help raise awareness of heart disease with the children of our Prestatyn and Meliden and their families.”
