Powys man arrested in terror fund allegations

A 37-year-old Powys man has been arrested in connection with an alleged offence of being in possession of funds for terrorist purposes.

Between February 2 and February 3, officers from the the Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Command arrested four men in connection with an alleged offence of being in possession of funds for terrorist purposes.

As man was arrested at a residential address in Powys, along with two men age 34 and one man age 45 who were arrested at the same commercial premises in Pontardawe. A 38-year-old man was arrested at residential address in Swansea. 


All four were taken to a central London police station, and were later bailed to return to a date in late May.

The men were arrested under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act. The alleged offence is under section 16 of the Terrorism Act 2000.

Officers from the Welsh Extremism Counter Terrorism Unit supported the operation.
