LLANDUDNO'S recession hit high street will soon benefit from some retail therapy with three major chains opening stores soon.

Furniture retailers DFS, supermarket giant Sainsburys and coffee chain Caffe Nero will shortly commence trading in the town, leading to a positive reaction from town officials.

Sofa specialists DFS will open this Saturday in the former Halfords on Charlotte Road.

Sainsburys will open at the former Woolworths site on Friday March 16, while Caffe Nero have begun advertising for positions at their Mostyn Street coffee shop.

The new stores follow openings by other companies in the town, including Country Casuals and Viyella.

Cllr Greg Robbins, Mayor of Llandudno, said: “Obviously, this is all very, very positive. This has been seen as giving something of a feelgood factor to the town - especially the high street.

“I know Mostyn Estates are working in conjunction with other partners to make sure these shops are used.

“And I hope the regeneration of the Clarence will show the high street and the areas around the top end of Mostyn street are a very attractive place to do business, the mayor added.
