A TEAM of women smashed their fundraising target after a year of charity work.

The Calendar Girls - a group of twelve women from across Conwy who disrobed for a charity calendar - held a presentation night at the Mulberry, Conwy, to mark their 12-month fundraising campaign for children's hospice Ty Gobaith.

The group, which was organised by Llandudno Junction businesswoman Betty Edwards, originally set a target of £10,000, and beat the target after gathering a total of £12,245 for the charity.

As well as selling their calendar online and at places such as Venue Cymru, the Victoria Centre and the Bay View Centre, the ladies also held auctions, raffles and coffee mornings.

Anna Bitowski, a member of the group, said: “Betty’s been an inspiration to us - she’s wonderful, and kept us going throughout the year. She was determined to reach her target.”

“We’re thinking hard about what to do next.”
