Record entry for Nick Beer 10k

A RECORD number of runners took part in the Nick Beer 10k Memorial Race at the weekend, as reigning champion Rob Samuels retained his title.

The Eryri Harriers athlete led a four-strong pack of his team-mates for the first five places in the Llandudno event with a time of 30min 35sec, missing the course record by just one second, ahead of second placed Alun Vaughan in a respectable 32min 24sec.

Third was Brendan Rothery in 33min 54sec with Jordan Evans fifth in 34min 39sec. First home for the host club North Wales Road Runners was John Ford in seventh place with a time of 35min 17sec to take second place in the M40 category.

Young Colwyn Bay runner Jacob Griffith was first Under 20 runner home in a time of 38min 34sec for 33rd place.

Almost 800 runners took part in the race which involves a start and finish on Llandudno prom with a circuit round the Great Orme, with 680 finishers topping last year’s tally of 648.
