MOCHDRE’S Under 15s will be representing North Wales on the Welsh Cup Finals day after topping Northop Hall in the area final.
The junior side, who are the first in the club’s history to reach the finals, scored steadily to hit 104 for four, with young gun Matt Humphreys topping the bill with 48 from 48 and James French ably supporting with an unbeaten 21.
A positive start from Northop was halted by a wonderful couple of deliveries from Sam Davies, who took one of the Hall openers for nought and danger man Ben Slater for 12.
The whole Mochdre line-up piled on top of the Northop batsmen, with Reece Roberts taking top scorer Jevan with a clever top spinner and Daniel Wood dismissing Nish with a ball that kissed the bails.
There was no respite for the Northop Hall rearguard as Harri Parkes and Dan Phillips cleaned them up to leave the home side stranded on 76 for 9, sending Mochdre sailing through to the finals day.
The Under 13s also cruised to victory this week, comfortably beating Bangor.
Mochdre amassed 128 for 3 featuring an extremely well constructed 74 not out by Jacob Molloy, supported by 21 from Andrew Butlin.
Sharp fielding then restricted Bangor to just 48 all out, including four run outs. There were two wickets a-piece for Andrew Butlin, to round a good all round performance , Finley Jones and Dylan Parry.
LLANDUDNO’S Under 13s kept up their charge for the league title with a nine wicket win over Llanrwst.
The Rwsters hit 50 for two from 20 overs, with Will Sissons and Ryan Colby cashing in a wicket each.
In reply, Tudno rattled off 52 for one loss, with Sissons hitting an unbeaten 14, Adam Sabri matching him and Matthew Jones top scoring with 26 not out.
