ST ASAPH bounced back from an early collapse to take the lion’s share of the points from their clash with Brymbo.
After crashing to 38 for six, a superb 99 run stand from Richard Aram (30) and Andrew Bellis (62) got the Saints back on track, before another superb double-act from Gareth Jones (25) and Jason Foulkes (30) helped push the total past the 200 mark, ending all out for 201 from 55 overs.
With a commanding total under their belt, St Asaph set about taking out the Brymbo line-up, but steady scoring saw early wicket hard to come by.
After two wickets each from David North and Paul Fleming, Brymbo reach 94 for four, and though Brymbo could only manager another 57 runs for their next four batsmen, the Saints ran out of overs to land victory.
A great second spell from Jason Foulkes saw him join Fleming on three wickets for the afternoon, leaking 52 and 38 runs respectively, keeping the Saints comfortably in the top half of the table.
The Seconds went down by five wickets to second placed Denbigh.
Jamie Henderson (38) and Jimmy Vaughan (43) paired up for the bulk of the Saints’ runs as they reached 124.
Quick wickets, two from Adam El-Lamie and another from Luke Robinson, saw the visitors wobble to 53 for three.
A steady fourth wicket stand guided Denbigh to victory though, hitting 125 in the 46th over. Jamie Henderson took the remaining couple of wickets.
