A CANADIAN couple have recently reopened a hotel in Llandrindod Wells which had been closed for a year.
The Montpellier on Temple Street was reopened on Sunday, July 1, by Trevor and Denise Panasiuk.
The couple owned and ran a bed and breakfast in Canada, and have recently moved from their hometown, Saskatchewan, to the UK to live.
They were in search of a hotel to run and came across the Montpellier in Llandrindod Wells, which they bought to renovate and reopen, after it been closed for about 12 months.
Trevor said: “My wife is from England and Wales, she wanted to come back. We were looking around and we fell in love with the building and the town - it was the one.”
The pair have preserved the original name of the hotel, the Montpellier, and have opened it up again as a hotel and restaurant.
Trevor said: “We’re loving it. The Sunday lunch is always very busy, we usually serve late until five. We have a fantastic chef, we serve British food as well as some Canadian food. The dried ribs are especially popular.”
