CONSTRUCTION work on the Porth Eirias watersports centre is progressing on schedule.
The Colwyn Bay sea sport hotspot, being built by contracters Wynne Construction, is on course to meet its projected completion date this autumn.
Over the last month, installation work on the building’s windows has begun, while foundations for two wind turbines that will power the building and help Porth Eirias achieve an Excellent Standard BREEAM environmental
assessment rating, have been layed.
A spokesperson for Conwy County Borough Council said: “Work on Porth Eirias is progressing well.
“The majority of the under-layers of cladding are now installed, and then it’ll be the final layers of zinc and larch on the exterior.
“The windows are being installed and should be completed shortly.
“Externally, the foundations have been laid for the two wind turbines that will generate some of the power required to run Porth Eirias.
“A significant amount of work is also taking place in the building’s plantroom; preparing the electrical connections for the wind turbines and the Combined Heat and Power Unit to make sure that Porth Eirias is an energy efficient building once it opens.”
